Governor Gianforte gives the Montana National Guard instructions to locate resources to help Texas secure its borders
Helena, Montana – The Montana National Guard has been instructed by Governor Greg Gianforte to locate resources that could help Texas with border protection.
The action follows Congress’s inability to resolve concerns related to the southern border.
With Tuesday’s declaration, the leadership of the Montana National Guard can collaborate with Texas to determine how Montana can help Texas with its response.
Finding volunteers for a possible support mission is part of that.
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has asked neighboring states for assistance in combating hazardous drugs that are trafficked into the country and illegal immigrants who cross the border.
The Rocky Mountain Drug Task Force released data recently, which the governor’s administration used to demonstrate that over 3 million fentanyl pills were found in the area last year.
