Bloomington, Indiana – The City of Bloomington reported 30 new COVID-19 cases among its employees, down from 38 last week.

262 city employees have tested positive since the pandemic began in total.

According to the city’s statement, none of the 30 employees exposed members of the public.

Additionally, the vast majority of new cases were not linked to previous employee cases, Mayor John Hamilton said.

“They’re individual new positive cases, and they are not related to each other in a significant way,” he said Friday. “It’s the community spread that’s showing up in our workforce, I think.”

The eight departments impacted this week are the same ones impacted last week.

Three public works employees and two utility employees identified close contacts; they have all been notified.

One utility employee was asymptomatic but tested positive as part of the city’s mandatory testing policy for those who have not submitted proof of vaccination.
