An Ohio man has been taken into custody following an incident in which he allegedly fired at a police officer in Union City

Union City, Indiana – A man from Ohio has been taken into custody and faces charges of attempted murder following a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday evening in Union City, as stated in a post by the Union City Police Department on social media.

On Sunday night at approximately 11 p.m., Union City Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of W. State Road 28. Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman who reported hearing several gunshots and screams in the vicinity of the Little Mississinawa River bridge.

An officer arrived at the bridge and made their presence known when an individual, identified as 45-year-old Michael Fisher, allegedly fired several shots at the officer, with some rounds striking a nearby residence. The officer refrained from discharging their weapon.

A resident of Union City, Ohio, Fisher was subsequently found at the location. According to the post, Fisher was said to have a 9mm handgun that had an empty magazine. A vehicle was discovered in a nearby river, which held several firearms, including a long rifle, a short-barreled rifle, and ammunition.

Court documents filed on Monday in Randolph County reveal that Fisher faces the following charges:

• One count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony
• One count of intimidation, a Level 5 felony
• One count of pointing a firearm at another, a Level 6 felony
• One count of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony

The statement indicated that the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office is still reviewing the case.
