7 injured and 1 killed from nighttime gunfire
Indianapolis, Indiana – Following multiple shootings early on Sunday morning in Indianapolis, one person was murdered and seven more were injured. Police are currently conducting an investigation.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports that at around 1:20 a.m., gunshots were reported in the south side of Indianapolis in the 5900 block of Madison Avenue.
Several “shots fired” reports were received by police as they were conducting their investigation, and they were told to go to the Madison Avenue parking lot outside the GZ Restaurant.
There were five shot victims when the police came. A man was declared dead at the scene, according to the police.
Two individuals were transferred to nearby hospitals: a 29-year-old male and a 25-year-old man in stable condition, and a 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman in critical condition.
According to the police, there was a major commotion inside the GZ Restaurant, which spread to the parking lot and resulted in gunfire.
Multiple businesses were struck by gunfire, and the parking lot was the scene of numerous shell chases, according to the police. Multiple firearms were also found at the location by the police.
Officers were called to a reported shooting on Edwin Court on the northwest side of Indianapolis ten minutes later.
Officers discovered three shot victims. Three victims total—two of them were adults and one was a child.
Two others were transferred in stable condition, while one person was sent in serious condition to a nearby hospital. Police did not identify the victim or state which injury belonged to which.
According to the police, there was a party going on at the house when the shooting happened.
