8-year-old boy injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver traveling in the opposite direction on a one-way street in Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – Authorities appealed to the public for assistance in locating a hit-and-run driver who struck an 8-year-old boy on the southeast side of Indianapolis.
The incident where the 8-year-old boy was struck in the 1100 block of St. Paul Street, which is a residential neighborhood near S. Keystone Avenue and Prospect Street, on Tuesday at around 4:20 p.m. was caught on the boy’s family’s surveillance camera.
The video shows the 8-year-old boy picking up a basketball and running from his porch onto St. Paul Street when a dark-colored GMC SUV traveling at an apparent high rate of speed in the opposite direction on a roadway that is designated as a one-way street hits him.
After striking the boy, the vehicle stops for a second and shortly after speeds away from the scene. According to reports, the boy fortunately did not suffer any significant injuries and only had a fractured rib as a result.
