Several people detained in Miami County for not paying child support
Peru, Indiana – According to a release on Friday from the Indiana State Police, numerous felony warrant arrests have been made.
The Miami County Prosecutor’s Office declared in a press release that Miami County non-custodial parents who are behind on child support obligations may benefit from the Child Support Amnesty Month grace period.
During this time, late payers would be able to send money and avoid going to jail.
The message also stated that anyone who was significantly behind on their child support payments will be charged starting on April 1.
11 felony warrants for non-support of a dependent child were issued as a result of the grace period.
Five persons were detained on May 26 for failing to make child support payments.

• Eric Labare, 58, of Peru, IN
• Justin Lees, 42, of Peru, IN
• Derik Thompson, 30, of Peru, IN
• Jason Whitmer, 39, of Peru, IN
At the Miami County Jail, they were being detained. Since then, four of them have been released. Labare is still being held on a $10,000 bond at the Miami County Jail.
Six more people, according to the police, are still wanted for unpaid child support. The six individuals’ names have not been made public.
