After reporting his young son’s death to 911, the father arrested
Evansville, Indiana – According to the Vanderburgh County sheriff, a 25-year-old Evansville father was taken into custody after his 6-month-old kid was discovered dead at their residence on Thursday.
According to a news release from Sheriff Noah Robinson, Shane Hedrick was first charged with domestic abuse on a family member who was under 14 years old, negligence of a dependent resulting in death, and neglect of a dependent. Hedrick was detained without being granted bond until he appeared in court.
Hedrick contacted 911 on Thursday at 10:25 a.m. to report discovering his son dead in his cot. Vanderburgh County’s northwest is where Hedrick resides.
Hedrick eventually admitted to investigators that he had hit the baby in the early morning and hurt it.
The sheriff said in the release, “Deputies found the conditions in the home deplorable which included clutter, trash and debris, insect activity, and animal urine and feces.”
