Indianapolis, Indiana – The second of four hearings on the Indiana Department of Transportation’s proposal to develop the state’s network of electric vehicle charging stations took place on Tuesday night.

The second hearing took place in the Lafayette Road event hall of the Global Village Welcome Center.

According to INDOT, funding for the project comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021. By 2030, officials say, Indiana wants at least 500,000 EV charging stations.
Residents of Indianapolis had the opportunity to raise questions regarding the project on Tuesday night.

George McCue, director of the zero-emissions vehicles program for INDOT, said, “We’re really trying to look toward the future and future proof and have that build to support current EV owners and also give people who are looking and considering EVs in the future to have that opportunity to charge on their road trips.”

The following hearing will take place on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hingst Hall, located at 1815 E. Morgan St., Kokomo, on the campus of Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo.

The last hearing will take place on July 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Green Activities Center, located at 120 W. Harrison St., Vincennes, on the university campus.
