Demolition of Fishers City Hall begins Monday; public invited to watch
Fishers, Indiana – The historic Fishers City Hall building will be demolished, and the public is welcome to see it.
According to city officials, the site preparation and demolition will take many weeks.
On Monday and Tuesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors can observe the personnel at work from bleachers built outside the construction fence on the north side of the fence.
First-come, first-served seating will be available in the bleachers.
“Viewers are reminded that this is an active construction site and may be subject to unexpected risk by being present,” the city said in a statement.
City officials revealed their ideas for a new city hall and arts complex in April.
According to the city, “irreparable foundation concerns resulting in building breakdowns” are the reason for the reconstruction of the municipal building. The new city hall will be constructed using bricks and limestone that will be conserved from the old structure.
The replacement structure is scheduled to be finished in the spring of 2024.
The City Services Building, which is slightly northeast of the modern city hall building at 3 Municipal Drive, is where all city business is conducted.
