Single-vehicle crash on Indy’s southeast side left one person dead
Indianapolis, Indiana – An accident that occurred on a ramp between I-74 and I-465 on the southeast side of Indianapolis and claimed the life of one person early Wednesday morning is now being investigated by the Indiana State Police.
According to the Indiana State Police, the accident took place sometime before 9:10 a.m. close to the intersection of Old U.S. 41 and Interstate 465 and involved a single vehicle that veered off the road.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Information about whether the victim was a driver or a passenger was not made public.
Indiana State Police also said that another person who was trapped in the vehicle was extricated.
It is unclear if there were any other injuries.
While the accident was being investigated by the police on Wednesday morning, the ramp leading from eastbound I-74 to southbound I-465 was partially closed but has since reopened.
The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
