New gunshot detection technology devices, which were installed as part of a test program in the East District of the police department, were the ones who first alerted the officers to the shootings.
The initial investigation showed that a rifle was used in the incidents.
At least six residences in the 1000 block of North Hamilton Avenue, located just north of East 10th Street on the near east side, were reportedly hit by gunshots, according to a spokesperson for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).
