Monroe County, Indiana – While deer hunting, a man from Indiana fell from a tree stand and perished.
Kevin Leech, 57, of Heltonville was hunting in a climbing tree stand when it broke, the Department of Natural Resources claims, and he fell.
Leech was found by another hunter, who informed rescuers. The event took place on Saturday in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest close to State Road 45 in the vicinity of Bruce Lane.
At the scene, Leech was pronounced dead. He was not, according to DNR, wearing a full-body safety harness.
To ascertain the cause of death, an autopsy is still waiting.
