State trooper performs CPR on infant after serious injuries accident in Miami County
Miami County, Indiana – Following a two-vehicle crash in a remote area of Miami County, a captain of the Indiana State Police assisted in doing CPR on an 8-month-old infant who was not breathing.
The collision happened near the intersection of Old US 31 and County Road 1000 North on Tuesday at about 8:05 a.m., according to Indiana State Police. According to police, a 2002 Ford F-250 struck a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander being driven by a 31-year-old Macy’s mother at the junction.
When Indiana State Police Capt. Jeremey Kelly arrived on the scene, an 8-month-old boy who was a passenger in the Mitsubishi was not breathing and had no pulse, according to state police. Good Samaritans and Kelly started performing CPR on the kid, who later recovered consciousness and was taken to a South Bend hospital.
According to police, the boy’s mother was injured in the neck and rushed to a hospital in South Bend. A five-year-old who was in the Mitsubishi was also injured but not in danger of dying.
According to state police, Ford’s driver was unharmed. The Ford had the right of way and wasn’t compelled to stop at the intersection, the police inquiry found. According to reports, the Mitsubishi’s driver pulled out in front of the Ford after stopping at a stop sign.
According to the police, the crash is not thought to have been caused by drinking or drugs.
