Freezefest Ice Battle 2023
Bloomington, Indiana – The Freezefest 2023 Ice Battle was held on Friday night when the temperature was just above freezing (about 33 F).
On the outdoor stage of Upland Brewing, which is north of the parking lot off 11th Street, the competition took place.
Two teams of ice carvers from Ice of America conducted three rounds of carving lasting 15 minutes each, beginning with blank blocks of ice.
A dragon was created by one team after 45 minutes. The carving made by the opposing team showed Sponge Bob Square Pants blowing bubbles.
By comparing how loud the cheers were, they were vying for the approval of the audience. Sponge Bob was chosen as the winner after three voting rounds.
