Several business robberies in Columbus lead to the arrest of one individual
Columbus, Indiana – Police say a man who has been detained is responsible for several commercial burglaries on Columbus’ east side.
According to the Columbus Police Department, the individual was taken into custody early on Thursday. According to the police, a rock was used to break glass during a number of early morning burglaries at companies.
A business burglary was reported in the 1700 block of State Street on Thursday morning, according to a press release. When the police came, they discovered a rock that had been used to smash the store’s glass entrance. According to the police, a cash register with money inside was also stolen from the company.
Police claim that Jeron McDonald, 27, was the suspect after reviewing security camera footage. Prior to receiving a call about the crime, according to the police, McDonald was in the neighborhood.
After additional investigation, officers located the stolen cash register in the nearby 500 block of South Cherry Street apartment complex’s alley. After that, McDonald was detained and brought to the Bartholomew County Jail. He is being prosecuted on burglary, possession of stolen items, and criminal mischief preliminary accusations.
The first hearing for McDonald is set for February 2.
