Representative Victoria Spartz will not seek reelection in 2024
Noblesville, Indiana – Taking a break from national politics is a congresswoman from central Indiana.
Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-IN) made the decision to not run for any office in 2024 on Friday. Rep. Spartz represents a district in central Indiana and is presently completing her second term.
Rep. Spartz stated in a statement that she needs to spend more time with her two kids, who are in high school.
“It’s been my honor representing Hoosiers in the Indiana State Senate and U.S. Congress and I appreciate the strong support on the ground. 2024 will mark seven years of holding elected office and over a decade in Republican politics. I won a lot of tough battles for the people and will work hard to win a few more in the next two years. However, being a working mom is tough and I need to spend more time with my two high school girls back home, so I will not run for any office in 2024.”
Rep. Spartz recently stated that she would oppose Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s attempt to deny Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) a position on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She disagreed with McCarthy’s threat to exclude Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee.
Rep. Spartz had shown interest in running for senator. The Republican field was reduced to Rep. Jim Banks, who received the support of former President Donald Trump, Trey Hollingsworth, and State Attorney General Todd Rokita when Spartz said she would not run.
