A man from Indianapolis found guilty of killing Demetri Swann
Indianapolis, Indiana – According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Marcus Dalton has been found guilty of killing Demetri Swann in 2021.
“Mr. Swann is the victim of a malicious act of gun violence,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. “This resolution reflects justice, and we will continue to hold individuals accountable should they threaten the safety of the community.”
In addition to being found guilty of murder, Dalton was also found guilty of illegally possessing a weapon. The verdict follows a three-day jury trial.
When the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to a shooting in the 900 block of North Tuxedo Street on April 14, 2021, the homicide took place. Swann was lying wounded in an alley when the police officers arrived.
Swann, 22, was declared dead on the spot.
Surveillance video captured Dalton and a 13-year-old kid leaving the alley and driving away in a black car. They were apprehended. The same video also detects audible gunshots.
The home where Dalton was detained, the car, and his backpack were all the subject of a search order. He was found to have the murderous weapons in his backpack.
The young suspect has been detained.
This is the year’s 12th murder conviction.
