One of the “coolest small cities in America” is Bloomington
Bloomington, Indiana – You can’t dispute Bloomington has that “je ne sais quoi,” whether you refer to it as the campus of Indiana University or a hipster refuge in Indiana. B-town is so amazing, in fact, that Thrillist has taken notice of it.
On the website’s list of the Coolest Little Towns in America, Bloomington was mentioned. According to the Department of Finance’s Demographic Research Center, an area with a population of 100,000 or less is considered to be a small city.
A little less than 80,000 people reside in Bloomington, described by Thrillist as a “quintessential Midwestern college town imbued with enough indie grit to satisfy even the most discerning shoe-gazing hipster.”
The town offers a booming live music scene, a wide variety of farm-to-table restaurants, a whole street of international eateries, and is close to hiking and bike trails.
The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Culture Center, the only location in the United States containing Tibetan Chortens, is also located in Bloomington.
According to Thrillist, April is one of the greatest months to visit Bloomington because of the Little 500 bicycle race. It is regarded as the biggest collegiate bike event in the country.
