Fishers announces a proposal to revitalize the Allisonville Road Corridor, and Kroger announces construction of an additional store

Fisher, Indiana – The extensively used Allisonville Road Corridor will be rebuilt, according to proposals released by the City of Fishers.

Plans are now in motion to execute road and walkability improvements, increase greenspace and enhance vibrancy, and stimulate new development along the corridor after the Allisonville Road Steering Committee reported its study’s results.

According to Joe Eaton, co-chair of the Allisonville Road Steering Committee, the neighborhood was very involved in the committee’s efforts.

“We hosted a community workshop, focus groups, and an online survey where over 1,500 residents provided feedback and input about what they wanted to see, both in the short-term and long-term, with the corridor,” Eaton said.

The Allisonville Road Steering Committee was created in 2022 by Scott Fadness, the mayor of Fishers. Fadness stated that “the transformation of Allisonville Road is a long-range project that will take some years to complete but we have significant things happening in the early chapters of that transformation… ”

These upgrades, according to Fadness, “road improvements, a new park on the southern end, and many economic development initiatives,” are all a part of the strategy to revitalize the entire corridor.

By the end of this year, the City of Fishers should have finished transforming an existing crossroads at 96th Street and Allisonville Road into a two-lane roundabout in order to improve traffic conditions.

The City of Fishers also anticipates starting work on a new roundabout between 116th Street and Allisonville Road in the spring of 2019. This will enhance the area’s aesthetics and traffic flow.

A new Kroger store will be built across the street from the one they already have in Fishers in addition to this plan. The new store will feature a larger selection of fresh vegetables, a Starbucks, more aisles, an expanded Kroger Pickup, and even fresh popcorn.

Also, the City of Fishers is only beginning to create new medians and make other aesthetic improvements to the corridor’s greenery.

Later this year, there will be further chances to offer input on Allisonville Road’s future, with an emphasis on the White River, connections, and the city’s trail network.
