Troopers respond to damage from severe storms in the area
Bloomington, Indiana – Several complaints of storm-related damage in the Bloomington area prompted the Indiana State Police Station in Bloomington to send out patrols.
McCormick’s Creek State Park was reportedly hit by a powerful storm in the late evening. Responding troopers concentrated on helping the Owen County Sheriff’s Office, numerous Owen County Fire Departments, Owen County Emergency Services, and Indiana Conservation Officers search the park for possibly hurt campers who were in other campsites during the violent storm.
With aid from the Spencer-Owen County School Corporation, which provided a bus to help with the removal, found campers were removed from the campgrounds. No reports of significant injuries have been made as of yet.
Sheriff Ryan White of Owen County reported power disruptions in Spencer and Gosport as well as the rest of the county.
In Lawrence and Monroe counties, there have been multiple reports of downed trees. Martinsville lost electricity as a result of trees and power lines falling, according to Morgan County. Martinsville structures were severely damaged by high winds as well. Throughout the night, troopers kept responding to storm damage.
The public is advised to drive carefully and to watch out for debris, downed power lines, cleanup workers, and possibly flooded areas. The Bloomington area should be extremely cautious, and residents are advised to be ready for storm damage, according to the Indiana State Police.
