On Monday, the next stage of the Purple Line construction on 38th Street will start
Indianapolis, Indiana – When work on a new section of 38th Street gets underway early next week, development on the IndyGo Purple Line will reach a new milestone.
On Monday, a fresh 130-day shutdown will start along 38th Street between Emerson and Shadeland Avenue. The road and drainage will be improved by workers during this time.
According to IndyGo, two-way traffic will resume on Monday or early the next week along 38th Street between Keystone Avenue and Emerson Avenue after the previous significant suspension.
• One eastbound lane of 38th Street will remain open.
• All westbound lanes of 38th Street will be closed between Emerson and Shadeland Avenues.
• IndyGo Route 39 westbound will detour around the closure with some temporary stops in place.
• Drivers headed west can detour around the closure using Shadeland Avenue, 46th Street, and Emerson Avenue.
In late 2024, the Purple Line is expected to begin operations. The 15-mile line will extend from Lawrence to downtown Indianapolis.
