Service dog with frostbite attends graduation of other dogs
Fishers, Indiana – On Tuesday night, Medical Mutts assistance canines celebrated the graduation of numerous assistance canines.
A service dog who is fortunate to still be alive was a special guest.
Chai had a difficult beginning to his existence. During a harsh winter in 2020, Indianapolis Animal Care Services claims to have discovered him tied outside. He lost the tips of his ears to frostbite as a result of the cold.
Despite Chai’s tragic past, the director of training at Medical Mutts found potential in him. The dog will now assist those who may be experiencing trauma.
Kelsey Burton, director of development at Medical Mutts said, “We also have a lot of people that are just very nervous to go out into the community. It’s really hard for them to go to the grocery and get groceries. So to have a service dog their with them as a companion who can act as a distraction helps them be part of our community.”
Since 2020, Chai has had a handler who claims the dog provides a safety net for her and her family in Missouri.
