After a preliminary opening over the Memorial Day weekend, Indy Pools will officially open for the summer season
Indianapolis, Indiana – According to a press statement that was distributed by the agency, the summer swimming pools that are operated by Indy Parks & Recreation will open over Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29).
After that, the pools will be closed for more lifeguard training, and they won’t return until Saturday, June 3, which is the official first day of the summer season.
Broad Ripple Park, Fredrick Douglass Park, Garfield Park, Indy Island Aquatic Center, Perry Park, Rhodius Park, Riverside Park, and Thatcher Park will all have their swimming pools upgraded as part of the initial phase of improvements.
“I am grateful for our team and all of their efforts to hire and train new and returning staff as well as their commitment to get our pools ready for a safe and fun summer,” said Phyllis Boyd, Director of Indy Parks. “We will continue to work towards getting the remaining pools up and running this summer for the community to enjoy.”
Depending on the age requirement and the location of the pool, the admission charge might be anywhere from two dollars to five dollars. In addition, Indy Parks provides an option to purchase a pool pass for the duration of the summer for $40.
