A Lifesaving Citizen Award is given to a Westfield father and son

Westfield, Indiana – Westfield city is honoring a father and son for rescuing a man and his dog who fell into freezing water last year.
Mayor Willis said, “I’ve always believed that Westfield has brave and kind people, but what David and Felix did is truly amazing.”
“Their brave actions show what it means to help your neighbor.” We are happy to give them this award that they truly earn.
David Fisher and his son, Felix, received the Lifesaving Citizen Award on Monday. The rescue started when Felix heard a 19-year-old man screaming for help and told his dad.
They quickly rescued the man and his dog using ropes. The Fishers brought the man and his dog into their home to keep them warm while they waited for help.
“Stories like these don’t always end well,” said Westfield Fire Chief Rob Gaylor.
“My department and I are extremely grateful to David and Felix for their quick-thinking and selfless actions that day.”
