Indianapolis, Indiana – After suffering catastrophic injuries in an east-side apartment fire, a guy passed away.
Around 10:20 p.m. on Monday, crews were summoned to the Briergate Apartments in the 2800 block of Elwin Drive. As they entered the premises, they found smoke in a hallway.
Firefighters spotted a dad and his 1-year-old kid close to a burned-out couch and put out the fire swiftly. Three further kids were also discovered: a 3-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 12-year-old.
In critical condition, all five victims were brought to the hospital. According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the 31-year-old man passed away on Wednesday morning as a result of his wounds. IFD withheld publishing his name until his family had been notified.
The kids were transferred to Riley Hospital for Children, where IFD reported that as of Wednesday afternoon, they were still in a critical but stable condition.
