Bedford woman arrested after injuring toddler
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested 36-year-old Virginia Marsteiner.
On Thursday evening the Department of Child Services called the Sheriff’s Department requesting assistance investigating a child being injured at a home on Sunny Acres Drive.
A female told police she was sitting on the couch with Marsteiner when Marsteiner’s cell phone rang. An 18-month old child reached for the phone because she likes playing with phones.
The female told police Marsteiner got mad and knocked the child to the floor. The child then followed Marsteiner to the bedroom and Marsteiner pushed the child again.
The female told police the child fell so hard she smacked her head on a toy. The child’s eyes rolled back in the child’s head. The female picked the child up and she went limp. The female said she was unable to get the child to respond or stand up. Finally, after a few minutes, the child began to cry.
The female also noticed a small amount of blood in the child’s mouth.
The officer arrested Marsteiner.
