BNL sweeps relays while topping North Daviess, Barr-Reeve
ELNORA – Bedford North Lawrence won eight events, including a sweep of the relays, while conquering Barr-Reeve and North Daviess during boys high school track action on Thursday.
The Stars totaled 88 points, followed by the Cougars (48) and Vikings (30). In the girls meet, Barr-Reeve won the meet with 72 points, followed by North Daviess (52) and BNL (42).
BNL, with most of the seniors missing the meet to attend the annual scholarship awards, won both hurdles races as Noah Carter took the 110 highs (16.31) and Zane Thompson claimed the 300 lows (41.51).
The Stars also won two distance races with Ryan Wright taking the 800 (2:20.09) and Colton Sons surging to the line first in the 1600 (5:07.09). Coleton Sears took the high jump at 5-8.
In the relays, BNL was dominant with wins in the 400 (47.51), 1600 (3:41.25) and 3200 (9:43.18).
Lindley Steele was a double winner for BNL in the girls meet. She crossed first in the 100 meter dash in 13.41, then took the long jump at 15-4.
BNL also posted two wins in field events with Katie Baumgart taking the shot put at 28-2, while Autumn Hall was victorious in the discus at 87-5.
The Stars will return to action at Mitchell on Monday.
