City of Bloomington Utilities issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for 19 addresses
Bloomington, Indiana – Workers from the City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will be fixing a water main at Davis Street, Highland Avenue, Southdowns Drive, and Eagleson Avenue on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from about 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 19 addresses will be without water, and until otherwise advised, there will be a precautionary boil water advisory in effect until 5:00 p.m.
Contact 812-339-1444 or bloomington.in.gov/utilities for addresses and more information.
When the water main’s pressure falls below 20 psi, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) mandates that all public water utilities issue a precautionary boil water advisory.
Those who are impacted should adhere to the following guidelines:
• Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
• Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes before consumption.
• It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.
Consumers who subscribe to the Monroe County Alert will receive an alert right away. As an alternative, CBU clients can find a list of the individual addresses impacted by visiting the CBU website at bloomington.in.gov/utilities. You can join up for the Monroe County Alert by clicking “Resident Alert Sign Up!” at www.co.monroe.in.us if you haven’t already. With the use of this service, CBU and other government agencies can promptly notify you of important information, such as road closures, missing people reports, and evacuations related to the addresses you register or the entire county, as well as tornado warnings and advisories. You can choose which notifications you want to receive and register to get time-sensitive messages by text, email, or home phone.
Do not hesitate to contact the City of Bloomington Utilities at 812-339-1444 if you have any questions or concerns.
