College Avenue will close for Red Line maintenance

Indianapolis, Indiana – In order to make room for improvements and maintenance to the Red Line bus route system, IndyGo plans to close down a section of College Avenue in Broad Ripple.
Between Kessler Boulevard and Westfield Boulevard, a half-mile portion of College Avenue will be closed as part of the project “on or after” August 7th. Local access will still be available, however, traffic will be diverted to use Kessler Boulevard heading west, Central Avenue heading north, and Westfield Boulevard heading east to College to get around the project.
Riders will have access to a temporary Red Line bus stop near Kessler and Westfield while the station at 46th and College is closed.
The improvement and repair work is part of a citywide initiative to improve redline stations, which have only been in operation for around four years but have already suffered damage from the enormous buses. The work in Broad Ripple, which includes strengthening the bus pad and pouring concrete into the Broad Ripple station, is the last phase of the redline upgrade work.
Work on the project is anticipated to continue through the end of August once it has started.
