Crash on I-74 on Shelby County, Indiana State Police trooper injured
Shelby County, Indiana – Friday morning crash in Shelby County on I-74 resulted with injured Indiana State Police trooper police say. The officer suffered heavy injuries when his vehicle was struck from behind by a motorist in a construction zone.
According to the accident report, the crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-74 near State Road 9 in Shelby County just before 3 a.m. The officer Megan Shinn was transferred in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash. His condition is stable. Officer Shinn was assisting a construction crew at the moment of the crash.
The police added the driver responsible for the crash was intoxicated.
That part of I-75 was closed due to the crash, but reopened around 4:30 a.m. There is ongoing investigation about the accident and we will update the story once more details are available.
Since 2018, 14 people have been killed and 650 others have been injured in work zone crashes in Indiana.
