Due to hazing, a 5th IU fraternity was placed on cease and desist
Bloomington, Indiana – Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. has been placed on cease and desist by Indiana University due to hazing.
Since August, this is the fifth fraternity to be placed on cease and desist.
When Kappa Alpha Psi joined these fraternities, the following reasons were mentioned in the cease-and-desist notices: hazing, alcohol, endangering others, and Kappa Sigma; hazing, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.; hazing, Sigma Alpha Epsilon; and hazing, Delta Upsilon.
All five fraternities’ activities have been put on hold at Indiana University until further notice.
A cease-and-desist order is “an interim measure placed upon certain aspects of chapter operations when there is an immediate threat or ongoing investigation,” according to the university website.
There are 28 fraternities at Bloomington, Indiana University.
