Due to water damage, the Southwest Branch of the Monroe County Public Library was temporarily closed
Monroe County, Indiana – Because of flooding, the Monroe County Library’s Southwest Branch will be closed indefinitely.
The Southwest Branch of the Monroe County Public Library was underwater due to a frozen exhaust vent that occurred overnight. The branch’s considerable water flow occurred suddenly, affecting approximately one-third of the building, according to a Facebook update posted by the library on January 15.
The program foyer, program room, teen section, children’s area, and adult print area were all damaged by the water. The MCPL provided an update on January 17th, stating that the repairs would likely take three to four weeks.
In its place, the library asked locals to use the Ellettsville Branch, the Downtown Library, and the Bookmobile collections for browsing and placing any holds. Individuals who have held at the Southwest Branch are asked to change where they pick them up via the website or get in touch with the library directly to be redirected to different locations.
Certain Southwest Branch programs might be rescheduled at one of the other two locations, according to MCPL. For updates on programs, library users can check the calendar or get in touch with the library.
