Dumpster fire forces hotel evacuation in the city

Indianapolis, Indiana – According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, a dumpster fire early on Saturday morning forced the partial evacuation of a downtown hotel.
IFD posted on Facebook that they received a call at 1:08 a.m. about a dumpster fire at the Omni Hotel on West Georgia Street.
As soon as firemen saw a fire showing in the passageway connecting the hotel and the nearby Hooters restaurant, the dumpster fire quickly escalated to a building fire.
IFD discovered that hot spots and embers had moved to the hotel’s second and third levels while conducting their investigation. Firefighters used ventilation equipment to quickly extinguish the hot areas and discharge smoke from the hotel corridors.
Around 2:30 in the morning, guests who had been evacuated from the hotel went back to their rooms. On what started the fire, investigators are still gathering data.
The incident didn’t result in any injuries.
