Fall break travel is expected to surge at Indianapolis Airport
Indianapolis, Indiana – Many families are enjoying their fall vacation, and Indianapolis International Airport is getting ready to host more passengers in the upcoming days and weeks.
Many families are taking flights, according to airport personnel.
“Fall break started earlier for some folks and later for my son, so we missed the rush,” said traveler Alesha Redic.
Redic, though, sees this as more than just a family vacation.
“My son is on fall break, so we chose to go to Atlanta, Georgia, so that he can visit some colleges,” Redic said. “He will be visiting Morehouse and Clark Atlanta University, and we also have family there, my sister and brother-in-law.”
Redic stated that although getting about the airport has been easy thus far, things could soon change. Over the next six days, more than 20,000 travelers will go through security screening, according to Indianapolis airport officials.
“We are up another 30% from last year,” Hayes said. “Which was also a record-breaking year last year.”
According to Hayes, as the holidays draw near, ticket prices are predicted to rise and flights to sell out quicker.
“The past travel trends were to book your ticket on certain days or certain times in the evening; that’s all gone away,” Hayes said.
It’s time to start planning your holiday travel, according to Hayes.
“Airlines tickets increase on average during this season by about $15 a day,” said Hayes.
