Father killed after he and his daughter were hit in a hit-and-run while crossing the street

Seymour, Indiana – According to the Seymour Police Department, a car that did not stop at the scene struck a father and his daughter as they were crossing the street. A short while later, the father was declared deceased.

At 10:46 p.m. on Friday, someone was reported to be unconscious and lying in the road in the 600 block of South Vine Street. Officers discovered a man who seemed to be dead when they arrived. Prior to the arrival of the Seymour Fire Department and Jackson County Emergency Medical Services, the patrol officers started performing life-saving procedures.

Soon after, authorities received a different 911 call from someone claiming to have been hit by a car. After an investigation, it was discovered that a father and daughter had been struck while crossing the street by a car that had driven off without stopping.

The unnamed father and daughter were taken to a local hospital, where the father’s condition was confirmed fatal. The daughter received medical attention for injuries to her hand, leg, and face.
