Finally! Almost all of the Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted on July 1st in Monroe County

Indianapolis, Indiana – Almost all of the Covid-19 restrictions in Monroe County will be officially lifted on Thursday, July 1^st.

The city leaders and health officials were talking about the current Covid-19 situation in the county on Tuesday, a mutual statement and press release issued by both Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Marion County Public Health Director Dr. Virginia Caine.

The information that many were waiting for, was released by Dr. Caine who said that Indianapolis can fully reopen as soon as July 1^st. This means that all venues and business can operate in fully capacity starting Thursday. According to her, bars, clubs, restaurants, live music and sports venues, gyms, salons, and others are able to open at 100% capacity. That includes Lucas Oil Stadium and Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Furthermore, Dr. Caine added that everyone, including those who are not vaccinated, are no more obligated to wear masks indoors or outdoors. However, she recommends everyone to wear one if possible, especially indoors. This will not apply for the airports, so all travelers are still required to wear mask while at the airport.

Lifting the restrictions doesn’t have the be approved by the City-County Council as the decision is now the same as the states.

Dr. Caine added that in order to prevent new waves, the county health officials will continue to trace the contacts of those positive to the virus.

“That surveillance is very, very important,” Dr. Caine said.
