BLOOMINGTON – A firefighter from the Monroe Fire Protection District was treated for smoke inhalation at a woods fire Sunday afternoon.

The firefighter was treated at the scene by IU Health Ambulance service and was released at the scene. He returned back to fighting the fire.

This came after the wind shifted direction on him.

At around 3:25 p.m. the Monroe Fire Protection District was dispatched for a woods fire in the 7700 block of Harmony Road in Monroe County.

The fire consumed approximately two acres, and was in a hilly wooded area making it difficult for firefighters as the fire was spreading up the hillside with the slight wind conditions at the time.
