Fishers starts letter writing campaign for city time capsule
Fishers, Indiana – The City of Fishers is encouraging the public to participate in a letter-writing campaign that will run through Friday, June 30 to tell future residents about Fishers.
A time capsule containing letters will be deposited in the upcoming Arts & Municipal Complex at 1 Municipal Drive. Towne Post and Fishers collaborated to design and curate the time capsule, which will be buried beneath the new structure’s keystone and uncovered in 2073.
To deliver letters in person, go to the Hamilton East Public Library – Fishers lobby at 5 Municipal Drive and the blue mailbox in the breezeway of the Fishers City Services Building at 3 Municipal Drive. If dropped directly into the blue mailbox, no envelope is necessary. By mail, letters should be sent to “Fishers Time Capsule” and sent by Friday, June 30 to 3 Municipal Drive, Fishers, IN 46038.
Letters should not exceed one page in length.
On June 10 and 17, locals can write and send letters at the Fishers Parks booth at the Fishers Farmers Market. Additionally, the city has produced a letter for kids in the Mad Libs format that can be downloaded at ThisIsFishers.com/Fishers150.
The initiative will assist in bringing to a close the city’s 150-year-old Sesquicentennial celebration, which began last June.
