Friday afternoon crash in Indianapolis east side fatal for one person, three injured
Indianapolis, Indiana – Three people are injured and one person died in Indianapolis east side crash Friday afternoon.
According to the police report, the crash happened around 5:20 p.m. when Dodge Avenger driving with high speed headed north on State Avenue. At the same time, Ford Escape was headed west on Southeastern Avenue.
Both cars crashed into each other. As a result of the heavy crash, they landed more than 50 feet from the intersection. One of the vehicles hit a power line pole located just off the road shearing it from its base.
First responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
The driver of the Dodge Avenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford and one other passenger were taken in hospital with serious injuries.
The last passenger was ejected from the vehicle and landed under the Avenger, which was overturned. As soon as the firefighters arrived at the scene, they immediately extracted the injured person and he was transferred to Eskenazi Hospital in very critical condition.
There is ongoing investigation about the wreck by the IMPD.
