Girl in critical condition after being unintentionally shot in the stomach
Indianapolis, Indiana – After what Indianapolis police believe to have been an unintentional shooting, a young girl was in critical condition Friday.
The “elementary-aged” girl was shot in the stomach shortly after 8 a.m. at the Ponderosa Manufactured Home Community on Berwick Avenue, close to West Michigan Street and North Tibbs Avenue, according to a statement from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The child underwent emergency surgery while being taken to Riley Children’s Health. She was listed as being in critical but stable condition as of 11 a.m.
According to the responding cops, the youngster was shot while in her bedroom with a brother and her mother was in the living room.
The cause of the shooting and the identity of the shooter was still unknown because police were still looking into it.
