Greencastle lady detained for forgery
Greencastle, Indiana – According to state police, a Greencastle lady was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after it was alleged that she attempted to cash a fake check at a bank in Putnam County.
Jessie Furnish, 32, was taken into custody on charges of official misconduct, forgery, theft involving items valued at between $750 and $50,000, possession of narcotic drugs while posing as an inmate, and possession of a prohibited substance.
Once Indiana State Police learned that someone had tried to cash a bogus check for $25,000 at a bank, they launched a criminal investigation. It was reported to detectives that Furnish had allegedly faked a check for personal benefit.
Furnish was brought to the Putnam County Jail and placed under unsecured custody. Furnish, according to the police, also had other arrest orders out for her that were fulfilled.
