Hannah Crutchfield, who was killed while crossing the street, has a playground named in her honor
Indianapolis, Indiana – On Saturday, the Irvington neighborhood joined together to remember Hannah Crutchfield, a 7-year-old child slain in September 2021 while crossing the street.
The 7-year-old was struck while crossing the street in the crosswalk beside her mother and a crossing guard. Crutchfield was taken to a hospital but was later declared dead.
Approximately $240,000 was gathered through donations to renovate Hannah’s favorite playground.
“Our playgrounds were older, a little broken, and very beige. They didn’t reflect the joy we felt in that space and they didn’t reflect Hannah’s spirit,” Michelle Pleasant, a co-chair of Hannah’s Memorial Playground, said.
The memorial was attended by friends, family, and representatives from the city. Jeremy Crutchfield, Hannah’s father, said there is no better way to honor his daughter than to build a playground where her friends and neighbors may enjoy themselves for years to come.
In the collision that claimed Hannah’s life, two persons have been charged.
In addition to two counts of criminal recklessness, which are Level 6 crimes, Torrell King has also been charged with reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony.
In addition, a 17-year-old female is accused of driving while intoxicated, reckless homicide, criminal irresponsibility, driving without a license, and other offenses. The allegations against the minor included both crimes and misdemeanors.
