Indianapolis, Indiana – Since their lengthy session begins next week, state legislators won’t have much time to enjoy the New Year.

Although Governor Holcomb cannot run in the 2024 election due to term limits, there are still several issues he would like to concentrate on for the upcoming budget before his term ends.

Work to advance infrastructural and educational development was high on the list of priorities. The governor also says he’s interested in sponsoring initiatives that give high school students direct routes into the workforce and improve the skill level of adults in the labor market.

He also highlighted funding for initiatives aimed at enhancing Indiana residents’ health and well-being. Additionally, Holcomb stated that he intends to provide funding to the Indiana Economic Corporation in order to attract major corporations to Indiana. The governor’s main concern was addressing climate change. He thinks that Indiana’s reliance on sustainable energy is crucial.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time as we move into the future. The sources, businesses, and residents will come not just to expect but demand in terms of reliability, affordability, and sustainability. A state like Indiana has a very pragmatic approach to realizing those innovations and turning them into action,” Holcomb said.

Other areas of focus were education and expanding proven strategies, particularly for young children. The general assembly of Indiana will reconvene on Monday, January 9.
