Indianapolis, Indiana – Elon Musk referred to Indiana Senator Todd Young as a “deep state puppet” in a since-deleted post on X because of rumors that Young will oppose Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as the next director of national intelligence.

Young has yet to express his vote regarding Gabbard’s nomination.

After claiming to have had a “great” talk with Young, Musk removed the post about two hours later.

Musk stated in his post, “I stand corrected.” “Senator Young will play a crucial role in helping the people regain control over the massive, unelected bureaucracy.”

Young questioned Gabbard on her opinions on government leaker Edward Snowden during her confirmation hearing last week.

Snowden, a former National Security Agency worker who fled to Russia after being accused of unlawfully disclosing government monitoring techniques in 2013, has received a lot of accolades from Gabbard. Many security personnel view him as a traitor, but Gabbard referred to him as a “brave whistleblower” and, when serving as a senator, pushed legislation to pardon him.

In 2022, Snowden became a citizen of Russia.

The American people would never have known that the NSA was gathering phone records and eavesdropping on citizens if it weren’t for Snowden. While vying for the Democratic nomination in 2019, Gabbard posted on social media, “As president, I will protect whistleblowers who expose threats to our freedom and liberty.”

Young claimed that Snowden “likely endangered American lives” and that he has been able to conceal himself under a front of being a “whistleblower.”

Young asked Gabbard to refer to Snowden as a “traitor,” but Gabbard declined.

In response to his discussion with Musk and the X post that initiated it, Young’s office released the following statement: “Senator Young and Mr. Musk had a great conversation on a number of subjects and policy areas where they have a shared interest, like DOGE.”
