Indiana has new welcome signs as residents wait for the Indianapolis 500
Speedway, Indiana – As you approach the Indiana border if you’re traveling into town for the 107th Indianapolis 500, you might notice a brand-new welcome sign.
It is anticipated that the new IN Indiana interstate signage would raise interest in Indiana as a destination for travel, employment, and residence. The new signs were unveiled at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 18 by Governor Eric Holcomb, the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC), and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
“We are proud to begin this project in three key locations throughout the state, with the vision of all of Indiana’s entryways featuring the IN Indiana logo as a welcome to the Hoosier state” said Governor Eric Holcom.
By Friday, May 26, the 19 interstate signage will have been placed.
Just in time for the Indy 500, the single-largest sporting event in the world, which will draw almost 300,000 spectators to IMS, there will be a significant inflow of tourists.
Additionally, 57 additional entry signs will be put up by INDOT on non-interstate roads.
