Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indiana National Guard has been called into action by Governor Eric Holcomb to support hurricane recovery efforts in Florida.

As Governor Holcomb put it, “Hoosiers of all backgrounds answer the call in helping those in desperate need, whether we’re aiding North Carolina recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene or assisting Floridians in the wake of Hurricane Milton.”

“While we back here at home grieve the great loss our neighbors down south are experiencing, Indiana’s finest, chief among them, who serve in the National Guard, will continue to provide critical help on the ground and in the air.”

This week, soldiers will be in Florida to assist with command and control, supply distribution, route clearing, and shelter management.
About four hundred Guards from Terre Haute, New Albany, Lawrence, and Gary will support federal and state agencies during hurricane assistance operations.

Major General Dale Lyles, the adjutant general of Indiana, stated, “Hoosier Guardsmen answer the call to uniquely serve our nation and our neighbors, and moments like these are precisely why the Indiana National Guard trains and prepares to ensure we’re ready to mobilize when the need arises.”
