Indiana – Indiana reported 6,642 new COVID-19 cases today, breaking the state’s record for single-day cases by roughly 1,600 cases. Monroe County reported 109 new cases, breaking more than 100 new cases in a day for the first time since Sept. 14.

This is the sixth record breaking day in November. Today is Nov. 12. It is only the fourth time Monroe County has reported more than 100 new cases in a day since the start of the pandemic.

Yesterday, Indiana recorded more than 5,000 new cases. That was the first time Indiana had gone above 5,000. One day later, the state is approaching 7,000 new cases.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb moved the state out of Stage 5 yesterday as cases within the state continue to surge. When Holcomb initiated Stage 5 on Sept. 26, the state was averaging fewer than 900 new cases each day. Now, Indiana is averaging just below 5,000 new cases daily.
