Indiana State Museum expanding hours, considers additional programming

Indianapolis, Indiana – Beginning in March, those who wish to visit the Indiana State Museum will have more time.

The Indiana State Museum announced that as of March 2, it will remain open late on Thursdays. The museum will stay open an additional three hours past its regularly scheduled closing time, until 8 p.m.

“This is a new opportunity for people to visit the museum during a time when it has traditionally not been accessible,” said Eric Todd, vice president of operations for the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. “This should give working people who may be busy on the weekends the opportunity to visit when it fits into their schedules.”

The museum will gauge interest in the extended hours throughout the first few months of the new timetable. It then intends to launch new content for the summer. These could involve gatherings focused on the museum’s unique exhibits, game nights, college nights, and other activities.

The museum’s regular hours are currently Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Adults must pay $17 to enter; seniors must pay $16; children must pay $12; and current college students with an Indiana school ID must pay $5 to enter. On all days after 3 p.m., admission is $2 less.
