Rushville, Indiana – Rush County Sheriff Allen Rice asked the Indiana State Police to look into the death of a Rush County Prison inmate on Friday morning.

When a female inmate was discovered in the jail unconscious before one in the morning, the investigation got underway. The prisoner was located and given emergency medical attention, but was declared dead there.
Michele Britt, a 45-year-old prisoner, was named.
Due to his public intoxication and drunk driving convictions, Britt was currently serving time.
