Indianapolis, Indiana – On the west side of Indianapolis, a new construction project was officially kicked off on Thursday.

Investors like Jana Hageman claim that Indy’s west side has been neglected for a long time and that many residents of the city are having difficulty finding a place to live that is within their means.

Hageman expressed her hope that this brand-new housing development, known as The Plaza on Central Greens, can provide some solace.

“It’s amazing when you can build housing that is super high-quality, super energy efficient and you walk around and see kids playing on the playground,” she said.

According to locals, there is an urgent demand for affordable housing in the Haughville region. Local resident Jocelyn Gaver believes that this is a positive step.

“This is bigger and better for those who can’t afford the best of the best community,” said Gaver.

It has taken stakeholders 7 years to start the Plaza on Central Greens development, which will be built where the previous state hospital was.

Rent might cost anywhere between $800 and $1400 per month.

Five buildings totaling 122 flats, ranging in size from one to three bedrooms, will make up the plaza.

As early as next year, they anticipate residents to move in.

“We have a waitlist, so you can start calling if you are interested,” said Hageman.
